The 2018 Charleston Dragon Boat Festival will take place at Brittlebank Park on Saturday, May 5th. If you’re not able to participate on a team this year, remember that all cancer survivors are able to participate free of charge. For more information and ticketing, visit the Dragon Boat Charleston website. Jessica Bizzell–mother of Carriage Properties’ Receptionist/Administrative Assistant Kaycee Houge–was a team member during the 2014-2016 race seasons. Bizzell states that “being a part of Dragon Boat Charleston was both a workout and like being part of a new family.” Although every dragon boat paddler has his/her own reason for joining, she admitted that “as a survivor, paddling provided an outlet to blow off steam. All of the repressed anger and unanswered questions [that came with the cancer diagnosis] were left out on the water.”
