A rear two story brick dependency has complimented the house since at least the late nineteenth-century; it is connected but not incorporated with the house. The property dates to the implementation of the Grand Modell plan for Charleston by the Proprietors in 1694. The garden was designed by Loutrel Briggs in 1961 for the Smythes. The property has an interior and exterior easement with Historic Charleston Foundation. Property to be sold ''as is''. The portion of the Loutrel Briggs garden from the street to the center wall shall be under easement with Historic Charleston Foundation. The rear portion of the garden after the wall shall not be under easement. A new slate roof shallbe on the dependency and the north wall shall be repointed as needed.
