Looking for a way to ring in the New Year here in Charleston? There are several events around the Lowcountry to celebrate New Years!
Family Friendly Events:
Flip-Flop Drop on Folly Beach. 10PM- 1AM. Experience live music and a pair of flip flops to count down to the New Year on Center Street! Admission is free.
New Year’s Eve at Marion Square. 4-10:30PM. A non-alcoholic celebration of the arts featuring live music and fireworks hosted by the City of Charleston. The event promises something for everyone: comedy, African dancing, many forms of music including classical, gospel and jazz, children’s activities, and much more. Admission is free.
Noon Year’s Eve at The Children’s Museum. 9AM-2PM. Kid-friendly art projects, confetti, balloons, and a sparkly ball drop for the kids! Admission is $10 for non-members and FREE to members.
New Year’s Eve on The Ashley. Middleton Place Inn. 6PM- 12AM. Enjoy a pig-pickin’, oyster roast, bonfire, and blue grass music. $88 21+. $45 16-20. FREE under 16.

January 1st also consists of fun events!
Folly Beach Polar Bear Plunge. 1PM. This year is the Bill Murray look a like contest! There will be judging for Best Guy, Best Girl, Best Overall, and Best Team. Or, just come dressed silly and take a plunge into the Atlantic Ocean! Free event!
Dunleavy’s Polar Bear Plunge on Sullivan’s Island. 1:30PM. Dress in a funky costume and take the plunge out on Sullivan’s Island! Dunleavy’s has been doing this tradition for 19 years. The cost to participate is $35, this includes a t-shirt and the proceeds go to The Special Olympics.
Race the Landing at Charles Towne Landing. 8AM. This 5K race is at Charles Towne Landing and fun for the family! Refreshments and awards will be offered. $35 for adults and $15 for kids.
