Reindeer Run, a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk through the lower peninsula of downtown Charleston. In the afternoon, celebrate the season at the annual City of Charleston Christmas Tree Lighting. Festivities kick off with the opening of a special extended Holiday Farmers Market in Marion Square followed by family-oriented activities, performances, and a visit by old St. Nick himself. Afterward, head to the Holiday Parade of Boats and join thousands of spectators to view the parade along the route that begins near the Mt. Pleasant side of the Cooper River, continues down the Charleston side of the Cooper River, and ends in the Ashley River. Or, enjoy an uplifting evening of holiday choral music at the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Gospel Christmas. Wrapping up the weekend’s events, Sunday’s Charleston Christmas Parade features marching bands, floats, and local personalities in a colorful procession beginning at the intersection of Calhoun and Meeting Streets and proceeding down King Street to Broad Street and on to Lockwood Boulevard.
