Preservation Society of Charleston Annual Fall Tour of Houses & GardensExperience Charleston’s distinctive architecture, history and culture from the inside, as you tour privately owned properties open to the public exclusively for this popular event. Tours highlight American architecture from the early Georgian period to the 21st Century, showcasing unique neighborhoods that represent Charleston’s flourishing culture from the Colonial era to the present. October 3- 27.

 

4th Annual Mac-OFF!One of the largest macaroni and cheese festivals in the country! Restaurants take this competition seriously to earn bragging rights with the best concoctions of the year. Come out and enjoy some Mac and Cheese! October 12th, 2:00PM- 7:00PM.

 

FollypaloozaThe 6th annual Follypalooza will take place on Center Street in Folly Beach. This year’s event will take place from 11:00am – 5:00pm and features live music, jump castles, bungee jousting, food and art vendors and much more. This annual street festival takes place every year to help raise money for locals inflicted with cancer. October 12th, 11:00AM- 5:00PM

 

That BIG BOOK SaleOver 60,000 used books, DVDs, CDs, audio books, and videos. This sale will benefit local libraries. October 11-13.

 

Rockers for Knockers This 3rd annual event is held out at Shem Creek to benefit Susan G. Komen for breast cancer awareness! A fun pub crawl that has over 15 bands participating in the event. Come out and enjoy live music while supporting a great cause. October 13th. 11:00AM- 7:00PM.

 

Komen Race for the Cure Charleston is celebrating 20 YEARS in support of Komen Race for the Cure! Please celebrate with us for the 2013 Komen Lowcountry Race for the Cure at the Family Circle Cup Stadium on Daniel Island. Take part with friends, family, co-survivors and survivors as we make an impact on breast cancer. There is power in numbers! October 19th.

 

Night At The Old ExchangeOne of Charleston’s most historic buildings has been taken over…by its exhibits! A mysterious force has animated some of the most notable historical figures of the Palmetto State. A scavenger hunt will help guide visitors through the three floors of the Old Exchange, which will also provide clues to a special treasure! October 18th. 6:00PM- 8:00PM.

 

Mount Pleasant Children’s Day FestivalOld and new traditions merge at the annual Children’s Day Festival, where children have their pick between time-honored festival games and old-fashioned pony rides, enormous inflatable slides and jump castles, live entertainment, wall climbing, face painting, and more. Admission, all activities and parking are free. Food concessions are offered by East Cooper schools as a fundraising opportunity for their programs. Park West Recreation Complex. October 20.

 

Family Fright Nights at Magnolia Gardens The 5th Annual Family Fright Nights at Magnolia Plantation and Gardens will bubble up from the swamp on the last two weekends in October. This Halloween event will feature games, prizes, a costume contest, haunted train rides and more for all ages to enjoy. Food and beverages will be sold. October 18 & 19, 25 & 26. 6:00PM- 10:00PM.

 

Wannamaker Park Halloween Movie Night- Come out and enjoy Monster’s Inc. with the family! Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to capture this flick! October 25th. Beginning after dark- around 7:00PM.

 

North Charleston Harvest Festival & Block Party Fall fun for all ages! Enjoy ghost stories by the Backporch Storytellers & kid’s activities at the Meeting Place (1077 E. Montague Ave.) from 6-8pm, an artist street market featuring booths by members of the North Charleston Artist Guild from 6-9pm, costume contests, spooky silent films, and a street dance featuring festive tunes by the V-Tones. October 26th. 6:00PM- 10:00PM.

 

rUNdead 5k Are you a runner or a zombie? Before, during and after the actual race there will be live entertainment, music, a costume contest, youth area, vendors, food, beer and an AFTERMATH party to die for. Spectators are encouraged to attend ($5 cash or TWO canned goods for ages 12+, under 12 free) to view the carnage and cheer on the RUNNERS or ZOMBIES. October 26th. 3:00PM- 10:00PM

 

Boone Hall Pumpkin PatchAt the Pumpkin Patch, the whole family can pounce on the 70’ x 30’ “Largest Jumping Pillow in the State,” climb the two-story “Mount Playsant” Hay Mountain and Slide Tower, take a spooky hay ride, and wander through the eight-acre Boeing 787 Dreamliner Corn Maze (the largest in the Southeast). At the end of the day, go home with your own Boone Hall pumpkin. October 1-31.

 

Boone Hall’s Fright Nights! South Carolina’s Largest Multi-Attraction Haunted Event! Featuring Castle Mid-Evil, Zombie Town, Wicked Woods Hayride, and Little Amy’s Nightmare in 3D. This event is intended for ages 12+. Open Wednesday- Saturday in October. Dark- 10:00PM.

 

IOP Halloween CarnivalHalloween costume contest for kids of all ages! Enjoy games for all ages, Jump Castles, temporary tattoos, face painting, halloween candy, prizes and more! There will be concessions also available for sale. October 31st. 5:00PM- 7:00PM.

 

Coastal Carolina Fair57th annual fair is operated by Exchange Club of Charleston. The vision of the Coastal Carolina Fair is to be the ‘cleanest, safest, most enjoyable fair anywhere’ and its objective is to promote Agriculture, Industry, Commerce and the Educational and Recreational facilities of the counties of Charleston, Berkeley, Dorchester and Colleton and surrounding areas. October 31- November 10.
