CHARLESTON HOME SALES INCREASE

According to the Post and Courier, April home sales in the Charleston region jumped 22 percent from a year ago, with families moving to the area and investors fueling the rise. The Charleston Trident Association of Realtors said in a preliminary report Friday that 1,028 homes sold last month at a median price of $200,000, which was 10 increase higher from April 2012.

Carriage Properties had a strong contribution to that increase with 20 closings and our average home being sold for $1,174,575. According to Charleston Trident Association of Realtors, Carriage Properties exceeds the median price of $239,000 for Charleston County.

The Post and Courier also reports, the local sales momentum from April appears to be carrying into May, one of the busiest months for the industry. CharlestonRealEstateStats.comreported that 354 homes went under contract from May 3 through May 9.
