A recent Travel + Leisure survey, released on February 12th, ranks our city the #1 city in North America “for balancing sophisticated tastes with small town charm.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Among the reasons they cited were our incredible restaurants, the likability of our residents, and our hotels, four of which were listed in the magazine’s top five small city hotels in the U.S., part of their 2015 World’s Best awards. The Wentworth Mansion (pictured below), a stunning 21-room residence and the home of a former cotton barron, was ranked #1 in the country, with the French Quarter Inn, The Vendue Inn, and The Planters Inn following right behind.

In other hotel news, The Restoration (formerly The Restoration on King, pictured below)—recently renovated and with its debut this month—was listed as the sixth hottest hotel opening in the world in 2016 by vogue.com.

Bottom line? Whether you’re looking for a personal residence or just a place to rest your head for a few nights, Charleston has some of the most beautiful homes in the world.
