CARRIAGE BLOG: ROMANTIC CHARLESTON

While we hope that you enjoyed a romantic Valentine’s Day on Saturday, just because the holiday has passed does not mean that romance in the Holy City must come to an end. Quite the contrary! One only has to stroll around the South of Broad Historic District on a Saturday afternoon to witness both wedding and engagement photo sessions in progress to know that. As the #2 wedding destination in the United States, Charleston sees its fair share of romance, and not only on Valentine’s Day. So in order to aid you in keeping the romance alive throughout the calendar year, below are a few of our favorite romantic Charleston restaurants.

Peninsula Grill. This restaurant has long been a favorite for those looking for a restaurant to celebrate a special occasion – but why wait for an occasion? Any night can be a special occasion when you enjoy a delicious menu prepared by Executive Chef Graham Dailey. Combined with a wonderfully long list of champagnes by the glass, and the best service in Charleston, Peninsula Grill is not to be missed. Oh, and make sure you leave room for the Ultimate Coconut Cake. www.peninsulagrill.com

Chez Nous. Located in a restored Charleston Single House in a little alley called Payne Court, this off the beaten path gem is one of our new Charleston favorites. Featuring a beautifully simple, immaculately prepared menu that changes everyday (2 starters, 2 entrees, 2 desserts), this new mediterranean restaurant makes you feel as though you have been transported overseas, perhaps to a village in Tuscany or Provence. They don’t take reservations, but it is well worth the wait. www.cheznouschs.com
