67 RUTLEDGE IS FEATURED AS THE CHARLESTON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA LEAGUE’S DESIGNER SHOWCASE

Carriage Properties’ listing at 67 Rutledge is part of The Charleston Symphony Orchestra League’s Designer Showcase. The home was first showcased in 1995. There are several features throughout the home that speak for themselves as to why this property is being featured a second time.
67 Rutledge was built in 1852 by Col. James H. Taylor and was held by the Taylor family for 115 years until they sold it in 1967. The current family purchased it in 1994. The front porch has Moorish arches framed in lattice which earned it the name of a “villa in the Persian style”. There are 10 fireplaces, etched glass windows, heart pine floors and two original bronze gas chandeliers that have been wired for electricity. A large unrestored dependency is located just past the house. There is a walled secret garden at the rear of the property. Another notable feature is the cooper bathtub which is original from 1852!
